Feature Story

What I Did 

For my latest project I did a feature story on the affect of new teachers on the school environment. This topic seemed interesting to me due to the fact that we have lots of new teachers this year in part because of our new principle. I interviewed 3 students on what they think new teachers are brining to the classroom and what they think these teachers can improve on.

The Process 

Pre interview

To create this video I had to first brainstorm a topic and decided what angle I was going to take on the story. This was one of the most difficult parts since there are so many topics to chose from and the angle you can take on your video drives everything that comes after including the interview and final project. Next I set up my interviews and started to brainstorm questions for my interview keeping in mind the angle 

Interview

During my interview I had to find good angles for the camera and make sure there wasn't to much headroom while filming. The most difficult part of the interview was making sure I got enough footage for my video and was able to cover everything I needed.

Post interview 

After the interview I had to film B roll and create and record a voice over to put in my video. finally edit the video and sound to make it a complete feature story. I then exported my video and posted it to my Youtube account.

Conclusion

This video was a lot of fun to film and helped me learn a lot about how to set up and conduct an interview. I also was able to learn a lot about how much natural sound can add to a video and how J and L edits really help add appeal to a video. My favorite part of my video is my interview clip, I feel like they are good quality and i was able to use them to tell my story. If i could go back and fix anything I would film more B roll.

Interview

For our second project in class we picked partners and interview them about their summer vacation. Through this project we learned how to setup an interview, what type of questions you ask while interviewing and also how to write a voice over and create b roll. Our final product did not include b roll or images over audio from voice over due to time restrains and inability to take video of the places our partner visited over the summer.
If I were going to do this project again I would change the angle of the camera during the interview so my interviewee is facing more towards the camera and i would make sure i know my angle of the story before I interview. The biggest thing I would change would be even out the sound when I am editing the video. I would keep my questions the same and the order in which I had my clips in the final package.

Procedure

For our first class project we created a video on class procedures. My group decided to do a video on classroom procedures. we wanted o have some fun with it so we made the video focus mainly about what not to do and then show what to do after. We had lots of collaboration in our video wee we tried to get the class to help act and our teacher to play a role also.                      To create our video we had to first story board and figure out what scenes we wanted in the video. Next we had to get people to act in the video and also figure out where we were going to shoot our video. next we shot all  the clips we would need for the final video and uploaded them to the computer. Finally we edited the video and exported it into a video file.

Along the way i learned many things including how to use adobe primere to edit my video. this was a brand new program to me but was not that hard to figure out. I also learned how to use the panasonic ac 90 cameras and tripods to help make my shots crisper and more steady.

If i were to do this project again I would change the music and spend more time trying to find music that fits. I would also think through my shots longer to make sure I could get all 6 shots into my video and add more emotion and a better story. i really liked the some of the scenes in the video and would keep them if I were to redo the video. I would also keep the people acting in the video the same since they did a good job.

Final porject

For our final project we had to make a product and work with a team of 4 to pitch it to our classmates including graphics, a video and a animation in our presentation. 

Teamwork

Our group worked well together with making sure we all knew what we were supposed to be doing and giving positive feedback but also constructive criticism when needed. We helped pickup what others couldn't do when needed so they had more time to get there part done.

Our team struggled with getting all parts of our project finished since our final website was not finished and we also struggled with the final presentation. 

How we could improve

Next time we could plan out our presentation at the end better so everyone knows what to say and it flows smoother. we could also manage time better to get our final website finished on time.

My Part

I have improved on my time management and video editing during this project along with my ability to work well in group.

During this project I made the product model in the animation and combined the parts of the animation to make the final animation. I also help with coming up with shots and scenes in the video and did part of the final editing. The final logo was made by me I also helped on one of the web flyers.

My House

My House

We have done multiple projects in Google sketchup and now have created a house! This project was much more challenging then any other project we have had this year.
We used many of the tools such as push pull, move, and much much more. We even used actually house plans to make sure our measurements were correct. After i had finished painting my house I added some Christmas lights for a seasonal flare. I used the SketchUp warehouse to add trees and a dog with a santa hat. Overall this project was alot of fun and was a little challenging.

We recently used Adobe Dream Weaver to create our own website! We made a website with our bio and also some of our best projects from this year. The project was a little frustrating but overall i thought it was easier than some of our other projects. I learned alot about how dreamweaver works.
